The conclusion of the housing selection process has left a lot of people on campus with a feeling of elation or disappointment depending on where they were placed. Not everyone gets their first choice, or maybe even their third, but it’s clear that everyone has an internal ranking of the dorm buildings on campus. In the spirit of the new semester, I thought it might be interesting to share my opinions on which top three dorm buildings stand out in my mind.
3. Fenway
Admittedly, Fenway may not be everyone’s first instinct when thinking of housing due to it being on lower campus. However, Fenway is home to some of the most recent dorm renovations, and as a result, the building is spacious, with elegant designs and an open concept layout. The study rooms have an incredible view with their glass walls, and the spiral staircase only adds to the ambiance. A potential benefit for many during housing, is that a lot of sophomores can get Fenway for placement, as a majority of upperclassmen tend to prefer off campus housing, or the apartment areas due to the kitchens within the dorms.
2. Collins
Collins is an absolutely great place for anyone to live. The rooms come equipped with a kitchen, and whatever you don’t want to make, you can just cross the street and grab some food from the 921. The proximity to the Student Center and Upper Campus make Collins an ideal living situation, and every year this dorms’ housing gets more and more competitive. In addition to its location, Collins is also home to the Falcon Mart and the MailRoom, which means that picking up necessary items has never been easier.
1. Falcone’s
Every upperclassman I know would love to live in one of the Falcone’s. The kitchen is large, the rooms are spacious, and it’s the perfect distance from Upper Campus to the Student Center. Jennison is often only a two-minute walk from any of the Falcone’s, which can’t be said for any other building on campus. Not to mention that many of the Falcone’s border the Green Space, allowing for easy access during the days where the campus is warm, and everyone is out enjoying the fresh air. Prime location, and ample dorm space are the two characteristics that make this dorm building an excellent pick for any student.
