Manchester City announced on March 29th that record goalscorer Sergio Aguero will leave the club during this summer’s transfer window after 10 years of service. The Argentinian’s contract was expiring at the end of the summer, and the club and Aguero came to a mutual agreement that it will not be renewed. The 32-year-old striker came to Manchester City in 2011 from Atlètico Madrid. Since then, he scored 257 goals in 384 appearances for Manchester City. In 2012, Aguero’s stoppage-time goal against QPR gave City its first Premier League title in 44 years. Since then, he has won three more Premier League titles, five league cups, and one FA Cup with the team. According to City, Aguero will be honored with a statue outside the Etihad alongside his former teammates Vincent Kompany and David Silva, who both played an important role in City’s renaissance.
Aguero is already linked with a few European giants even before this official announcement. His suitors include Barcelona, Juventus, and even PSG, though they already have two world class strikers. According to Marca, Manchester City is looking to purchase the Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haaland to replace the Argentinian, with a fee of around 1 billion Euro.
