Miley Cyrus’s Song “Flowers” Breaks Records

About a month ago, Miley Cyrus released a single, “Flowers.” This immediately attracted millions of listeners as the song’s main message is self-love and empowerment.

A lyric from the song goes, “I can buy myself flowers / Write my name in the sand / Talk to myself for hours, yeah / Say things you don’t understand” Along with being a catchy song with a good message, it also had hidden messages about who it was about.

It is rumored that the song is about Liam Hemsworth, as he cheated on her with many other women while they were together. Fans can assume this because the song was released on his birthday, she filmed the music video at the house he cheated on her in, and used the tune of Bruno Mar’s “When I Was Your Man,” which allegedly played at their wedding. Although these are all rumored, it helped increase streams as it went viral on TikTok and other social media platforms, with listeners sharing their thoughts on the situation. On Billboard's Top 100, “Flowers” stayed number one for four weeks, which is her biggest hit in the last decade. This surpassed her prior record with “Wrecking Ball” back in 2013, which was number one for three weeks.

With Valentine’s Day passing, Miley Cyrus posted a solo picture on Instagram with the caption, “I can love me better. Happy Valentine’s Day.” This caption alludes to the lyric in the song, “Yeah, I can love me better than you can.”

Flowers is different from most of the singer’s prior songs as this one truly shows the growth and development she has experienced. This will be part of her album that is yet to be released, Endless Summer. This album is released on March 10 and has fans excited and looking forward to an album of self-love anthems.
