On Sunday afternoon, Leicester City took on Southampton at the Wembley Stadium for a place in the FA Cup final. Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho scored the only goal in the 55th minute to give Leicester its first FA Cup final appearance in over half a century.
Since COVID restrictions have relaxed in Great Britain, 4,000 spectators were allowed into Wembley for the semifinal. The match was in deadlock until the 55th minute when Iheanacho’s second attempt on goal flew by Foster. James Maddison missed two good chances to extend the Foxes’ lead, but one goal was enough to book their place in the final. However, Maddison himself might not be happy about it as it was right under the nose of a watchful Gareth Southgate. The English manager was most likely picking out his starting 11 for the Euro this summer.
It will be the Foxes’ first FA Cup final since 1969. They will be facing Tuchel’s Chelsea.
