In Bentley University’s first post-season game this Sunday, the Southern Connecticut State Owls beat out the Falcons 88-78 after a brutal back-and-forth battle that saw both teams take their turn in the lead.
The Northeast 10 Conference Quarterfinals took place in the Dana Center at Bentley University. An impressive 300 fans showed up to see the third-seeded Falcons play the sixth-seed Southern Conn, to whom they had lost 76-66 the week prior.
The Owls came out strong, taking the initial lead, but the Falcons fought to stay close, finishing out of the half only down 43-38 after holding the lead for quite some time. However, the Falcons delivered disappointing shooting averages throughout the second half, enabling the Owls to cement their win. Falcon Seniors Aaron Latham (#11) and Zach Laput (#20) played excellent games, scoring 20 and 28 points, respectively.
The devastating loss marks the end of the run for the Falcons as they close out a strong season with a winning 19-11 record. Luckily, fans can keep their eyes ahead of next year as the team continues to build on the previous season's successes. It is sure to be an exciting run.
