Bentley Football Remains Undefeated

The Bentley University football team improved to a 6-0 record after beating Pace University by a score of 26-0 on Saturday, October 11. The first quarter was relatively uneventful as neither team scored. With 8:45 left in the first half, senior RB Anthony Doung scored on a 21-yard run to put Bentley on the board. The Falcons scored again with one minute left as fifth-year senior QB Stephen Sturm threw a 38-yard pass to senior WR Noah Neville. Although both attempts for extra points failed, Bentley’s 12-0 lead was enough to keep their momentum going in the second half. Bentley scored again late in the third quarter thanks to a 17-yard run by graduate RB Andrew Brazicki. And with a little more than five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, graduate DB Jack Scordato returned a 31-yard interception to make the final score 26-0. The Falcons not only had a stellar offense, but a great defense as well. Junior DB Matt Severance had nine tackles and senior safety Ore Ojo had a key interception in the second quarter. Pace was ultimately limited to just 146 total yards compared to Bentley’s 369.

Bentley entered this week as the 18th-ranked Division II team in the country, according to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll. Saturday’s win marks the eleventh straight game that Bentley has won; they closed out the 2019 season with five straight wins. Bentley’s current win streak is the most since 2002-2003, when the Falcons won 11 in a row between the two seasons. Current Head Coach Bill Kavanaugh was a senior captain on the 2003 team that made the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in program history. The Falcons will try to recreate a similar playoff run this year and should have no problem doing so with the team they have. Bentley hopes to continue their streak at Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, October 16 at 2:00 PM.
