The North London Derby between Arsenal and Spurs took place last Sunday at the Emirates. In the game that decides the color of London, the Red put three past Spurs to claim their third victory of the season.
Arsenal came to the derby after their Carabao cup victory midweek, while Spurs have lost two consecutive games in the Premier League. Arsenal opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Emile Smith-Rowe’s amazing run created space among Spurs defenders to allow him to bury Aubameyang’s cross right down the middle of the net as Hugo Lloris stood watching. Smith-Rowe repaid the favor in the 27th minute. Kieran Tierney’s brilliant through ball found Smith-Rowe as he put it to the middle to Aubameyang. The Gabonese balanced himself and clinically found the side netting across the face of the goal. Arsenal had no intention to stop Spurs’ misery. In the 33rd minute, Harry Kane, the alleged best English forward of all time, slipped just outside Arsenal’s box to give the Red a counterattack chance. English youngster Bukayo Saka took the ball all the way inside the box and slingshotted it across Lloris after Kane made another defensive error. After the halftime break, although Spurs looked dangerous and Heung Min-Son got one back in the 79th minute, Arsenal walked away with the Derby victory and three points.
After this game, Arsenal has collected 9 points and is 10th place after 6 games played. Spurs, on the other hand, who have now lost 3 games in a row, are in 11th place, after being on top of the Premier League table for two match weeks. Arsenal will travel to Brighton next week and Spurs will take on Mura in the Conference League midweek. The next North London Derby is scheduled for January 15, 2022. Until then, London is Red and the only White in London, Ben White, is Arsenal’s #4.
