Going into the clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion, the spotlight was on Welsh superstar Gareth Bale. The winger, back in Tottenham, was still searching for his first Premier League goal after more than 7 years wandering in Madrid.
During the first half, English captain Harry Kane gave Spurs the lead in the 17th minute via a penalty. After the start of the second half, Brighton’s Lamptey scored in the 56th minute to level up the score. The match entered a deadlock after that.
Gareth Bale was brought on in the 70th minute. The Welsh man only needed 200 seconds to make an impact — he converted Sergio Reguilon’s cross and sealed the win for Spurs. But most notably, it has been 2734 days since Bale last scored for Spurs, last doing so on his farewell appearance for the club vs. Sunderland back in May 2013.
After this game, Spurs sits on 14 points and second place on the table. Brighton is currently in the 16th place. However, it was a memorable day for Bale and Spurs fans.
